You’ll need to mix in favourites and underdogs as you see fit, but you won’t be able to just pick favourites on the point spread unless you only play one game a week and even then it’s difficult to find the one safe game because anything can happen in football.

Determining which teams are contenders and which teams aren’t contenders early in the season is important when you bet on the NFL. Also learning the rivalries and match-ups is going to help you out when you’re betting on the NFL because often rivalries are going to be close games and the underdog usually wins. For instance, Kansas City was a bad team last year, but they always seemed to get a win when they played rivalries throughout the season. Detroit on the other hand last year did terrible and you would have made a lot of money just fading them last year.
