Another week, another set of great MLB betting baseball matchups to choose from. These two are all for Tuesday, May 12.
Marlins at Brewers. Both teams are playing about the same level of baseball right now – Florida on their way down to a .500 record (anyone get the feeling this is about how their going to play all year, a little closer to .500 ball than, ohhhh say, .900 ball) and Milwaukee on their way up passed a .500 record. The Brewers are gaining confidence, and I think we’ll see them as an NL Central player the rest of the way. They’re not in the top 5 in the NL in pitching or hitting categories right now, however. Plus, they’re throwing Manny Parra, who is yet to win a game in 6 starts this season. He’s working on 0-4 and a 4.88 ERA (hey, at least it’s under 6!). The Marlins, though, offer up Graham Taylor, who’s stats actually look worse, albeit over the course of only 3 starts. Still, no excuse. The Brewers get a slight edge as the home team, but I’d bet the over instead of the line. Brewers -125, Marlins +115.
The AL entry is an East special, when the Yankees head up to Toronto. The Blue Jays still hold on to that top spot in their division, despite expected season-long pressure from the Red Sox. But what about the Yankees? It seems like not a week goes by where you don’t hear about one of their players either being in trouble or injured. The later hurts the team more, of course, but should you pay attention to what’s going on in the Bronx? The answer is yes, the Yanks are a mess right now. Sure they have plenty of time to get their act together, but we’re not betting on plenty of time. We’re betting on Tuesday. Here, let me make it easy for you in case you were undecided. Burnett (2-0 with a 5 spot for an ERA) vs. Halladay. And I’m not even going to give you Halladay’s stats at this point (OK I’ll slip the 1.12 WHIP in there). Because of the matchup and Toronto at home, this one’s a no-brainer, and the line should reflect it this time. Toronto -160, Yanks +140. Put the extra money up and take the Blue Jays.
The NFL is one of the most popular North American sports to watch and bet on and the sport has even been gaining popularity worldwide due to efforts made by the NFL to expand there market. With games last year being played in Canada and London it has helped worldwide spectators be able to watch a live NFL game without having to travel to the USA.
Basically every online sportsbook out there will offer not only soccer betting lines and odds, they also offer football odds throughout the NFL football season so it shouldn’t be difficult finding a sportsbook to bet on NFL games. Some of the US sportsbook tend to offer better odds then the UK sportsbook when it comes to the NFL though, so make sure you do your research and find the sportsbook with the best lines and odds.
The NFL is a very short season and teams only play once a week so you don’t really get much time each year to bet on the NFL, but when the season is underway you can make some easy money. The simplest way to make money by betting on the NFL is to bet on the moneyline and choose the heavy favourites each week to win the game. The only problem with this strategy is that you will run into problems paying really high juice on the games and if one loses it could take away a lot of your profit. If you’re going to be on the moneyline favourites then you need to hit at least 80%+ of the games you bet on.
If you don’t like paying such high juice on games then the next best bet is to look at the point spreads for the game. The juice will always be -110 when you bet on the point spread of a game, but choosing the favourite isn’t always the best choice and it takes more research to pick winners on point spread. If the favourite needs to win by 8.5 points then it makes it a lot more difficult then only having to win by one point and often underdogs will win the point spread. You’ll need to mix in favourites and underdogs as you see fit, but you won’t be able to just pick favourites on the point spread unless you only play one game a week and even then it’s difficult to find the one safe game because anything can happen in football.
Determining which teams are contenders and which teams aren’t contenders early in the season is important when you bet on the NFL. Also learning the rivalries and match-ups is going to help you out when you’re betting on the NFL because often rivalries are going to be close games and the underdog usually wins. For instance, Kansas City was a bad team last year, but they always seemed to get a win when they played rivalries throughout the season. Detroit on the other hand last year did terrible and you would have made a lot of money just fading them last year.
Betting on the NFL is one of the easiest sports to win money in because the league is fairly small and it’s pretty easy to find out the contenders and the non-contenders each year early on. You aren’t going to win every bet you make unless you get lucky, but it’s fairly safe to say that it you do your research each week you could win an easy 70% of your bets.
